On this day, the 11th of December, Salvadorian soldiers trained, funded, and backed by the U.S.A massacred around 800-1000 civilians most of which were women and children, all executed with many also raped and mutilated. Attempts of covering this up were made by the Salvadorian government and the Reagan administration. However, much of the uncovering of the massacre was due to the efforts of American journalist Raymond Bonner, Human Rights Watch, the United Nations Truth Commision, and the survivors of the massacre, particularly the testimony of Rosa Elba Ramos.
